Company History

Olsen was created over 100 years ago, in 1901, when Hamburg businessman, Alfred L Wolff, established a trading company. Over the years diverse international business activities were developed. The holding company Wolff & Olsen GmbH & Co, which is still owned by the Wolff family today, is divided into Fashion (Olsen GmbH & Co KG), Food (Alfred L Wolff GmbH) and Non-Food (British Continental Trading GmbH) divisions
In 1959 the foundation of the Olsen fashion division was laid with the importation of Knitwear from the Far East. Olsen’s expertise in textile fashion steadily increased over the years with the establishment of Knitwear collections, T-Shirt and Blouse collections, Outdoor Jacket collections and a Pant collection until the Olsen Collection of co-ordinates was conceived in 1995.

In the summer of 2003 Olsen launched their new order and delivery system called Time To Market which enables retailers to buy closer to the season. This gives customers the offering if six collection per year rather than the traditional four.
